Recipe for a Memory

This participatory project investigated the relation between food and personal history. The temporary installation was staged in an abandoned shop in the small city of Urbino, Italy. Just like Proust gained access to his childhood memories eating a cake, visitors have been offered tea and madeleines and asked to share a personal food recipe connected to a memory – and then to tie it on another recipe hanging from the ceiling. The result was a moving exhibition about the sharing of personal records in a time of economic uncertainty (2013).
