Sandbox

“Sandbox – the playroom has no walls” was an installation in the Triennale Museum in Milano, opened in 2017. It was an open space in which visitors could play games, interact with game designers or participate to special workshops. It was conceived as an interruption of everyday life, a magical space in which one can dive into and forget about oneself – just as playing games do. The “Sandbox” is literally a videogame genre in which there is no specific purpose, but the player is just asked to freely interact with the universe. We created a real sand-box inside the museum to stress the importance of having a sacred space in our contemporary lives in which we – adults and kids – are allowed just to play.
